Another positive step in Innovaré’s cultural safety programme

Safety is more than just policies and procedures, it’s about people and attitudes…

As part of Innovaré’s cultural safety programme the team operated a ‘Stand Down Day’ to review working at height risks and opportunities to improve. The teams approach to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) is to go beyond the basic legislative requirements and build it inherently into the way we work and the way we interact with both our client and supplier base.

Adopting the Cultural Safety model across the HSEQ spectrum, working from Complacent to Generative behaviour levels , the team are looking to promote a wider thought process that is based on attitudes and behaviours rather than rely solely on process and procedures.

A number of improvement opportunities were highlighted by the team and subsequently adopted throughout the business; including elements in the office, in production and onsite. Capital investment was required and made in certain areas, highlighting the business and management commitment to continually improve its HSEQ performance.

Pete Blunt, Managing Director, stated:

“In a tough and competitive market, HSEQ can sometimes fall off people’s radar as they focus on the harsh day-to-day commercial realities. As a business and a team we have a moral obligation to keep people safe and the Stand Down Day keeps focus on this to ensure we’re doing everything we can to let people go home safe at night.”
