Structural Timber Awards 2017

We’re delighted to have been awarded  SIPs Project of the Year at the Structural Timber Awards 2017 for The King’s CE School. This project is the result of true collaboration between all of the delivery partners. Main Contractor: Interserve &  Architect: Maber plus of course the Innovare team.

The Kings CE School project attained the highest overall scoring entry for a project using SIPs technology. SIPs are an advanced method of construction exploiting composite panel techniques – delivering excellent structural and thermal characteristics in one system.

The Kings CE School in Staffordshire was the last of a batch of 8 schools delivered by Innovaré, Interserve and Maber using the System which was chosen for its exceptional design flexibility and value. Using scaffoldless erection the 3 storey school structure totalling 7,318 m² internal floor area was delivered in just 11 weeks – on budget and meeting all quality, performance and sustainability standards.

The panels create highly energy efficient structures to meet the clients objectives for minimising the environmental impact thanks to excellent insulating properties and tight manufacturing tolerances. Sustainability is further improved by the minimal waste created during production. All elements of the panels are fully recyclable.

The project demonstrated how the System adapts to meet demanding and ambitious architectural challenges. It is the largest SIP built school project in the UK. Double height panels created a spacious, airy internal atrium and the structure also features lecture seating in the hall, a four court sports hall, and dance studio.
