277 schools are getting the full makeover through the second phase of the government scheme, either getting rebuilt or refurbished through the Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP). Specialist subcontractor, Innovaré Systems, is doing their bit by providing the thermal structure for many of the schools which are being rebuilt or expanding using their innovative approach.
“Today, we have 45 schools in design and manufacture”, says Alex Banks who is heading up Design at Innovaré. “Many of them on PSBP. The speed benefits we can offer with our off site solution, where most construction can take place in a factory, makes us an obvious choice for schools where many need immediate help.”
Structural Insulated Panels are quickly becoming a favourite option to provide the structure for PSBP schools projects, with it now taking just one year for PSBP construction projects to begin, slashed from 3 years, and projects costing up to 40% less.
Many schemes are now being allocated for offsite construction where lead times are lower and offering a delivery system that can be more robust to changing macro environmental factors such as market conditions, materials and labour shortages and the risks which can affect how, when and where schools may need to be developed. Because of this, the Education Funding Agency (EFA) is finding offsite procurement routes such as Innovaré’s able to respond fast and effectively to changing local needs and circumstances.
