In building projects, time is always of the essence. In the case of education buildings and university accommodation, there are fixed dates when facilities need to be ready. And for commercial builds, bringing project completion forward cuts financing costs and accelerates income streams.
Erecting steel and concrete frames can usually (but not always) be achieved quickly and to a reliable timescale. It’s often the selected wrap and infill systems that make a massive difference to the time taken for project completion. For time-critical projects (which is pretty much all of them) SIPs offer a rapid and reliable way to complete the dry structure.
The Innovaré System uses large format panels that are delivered to a controlled schedule. They are rapidly installed onsite and can create the dry structure one storey at a time. Craning the panels into place eliminates the time and cost penalties of scaffold erection.
SIPs can be used as a wrap system, outside of the steel or concrete frame, or as infill. In either case, there is a short design lead-in time and a highly efficient and controllable installation programme.
Is it Too Late to Use SIPs?
Because of the flexibility and simplicity of the system SIPs can be integrated relatively late into the building programme – at stage 3 or stage 4 even. So, if a project has gone off-track and the planned solution won’t meet the completion deadline, it’s possible to switch to a SIP wrap or infill approach to rescue the programme timings.
The wrap and infill system is a proven approach to accelerate build programmes. For, example on the Kidswell Estate switching to the System delivered a 10% programme gain and also saved 25% on M&E provision. Changing to for the infill panels saved 15 – 20 weeks in total over the course of the project.
Whether your project is in progress or still in the planning and specification stage it’s worth contacting Innovaré to see how we can bring completion forward with our innovative wrap and infill approach.
